Party hardy ghouls and guys! The halloween song is a tribute to my hometown. I don’t think there’s any deeper meaning there ; – 0 It’ll show up on the listening station asap.
Martin
Jackson, TN
I come up from Jackson in west Tennessee
Named after the president called Old Hickory
I’ve been known to travel, there’s so much to see
But I’ve only got one hometown, that’s Jackson, TN
I went to high school in the halls of JCM
Where I went to band camp where we marched to win
Then I took some college classes down at JSCC
There’s only one town where this came to be
I come up from Jackson, that’s west Tennessee
Named after the president known as Old Hickory
I’ve had my travels, I’ve been across the sea
But, I’ve only got one hometown that’s Jackson, TN
Rock-n-Roll got started with one little tune
When Carl Perkins wrote Blue Suede Shoes
He wrote it in his kitchen on Parkview Street
He got the world to rocking with his hillbilly beat
I come up from Jackson, the state of Tennessee
You’ve only got one hometown, mine’s Jackson, Tn
What’s that sound? It sounds like trouble
Jackson’s got a story that’s sad but true
about a native son on the 382
He saved his switchman’s life before the wreck
By telling him to jump as they neared the gates of Hell
Can you hear that train a coming?
All a clickety clack
Casey Jones died that day
The train ran off its tracks,
Twice I’ve been to funerals at Brown’s cemetery
I’ll always remember the days my folks were buried
Part of me is lost in that Jackson ground
But I’m standing here today to try and make my Mother proud
I come up from Jackson down in Tennessee
Named after the president known as Old Hickory
No matter where I travel I will always be
A good ole boy with one hometown, that’s Jackson, TN

What a weird day. I felt terrible and did little. But I needed to pick up drums from the studio for 2 days of sideline work that’ll keep away from recording. I was thinking it’s going to be darn hard to do a song by Wed. Boom. out came a tribute to my hometown. It’s written. Still need to record before Wed midnite.

Drat. I’m up a pound this week and the goal is one pound less. OK. time to hit the gym.
Last night was a chance to try out that Elvis suit at a halloween party. The aging rockabilly comes alive in the Vegas era threads.
I’m conjuring up a song about my hometown of Jackson, TN. It’s going to be tight because I’m doing two days of sideline work. That’s being a on camera musician for a tv show or movie. There’s no playing, just pretending in the background. Jackson, TN is going to have to get wrote ; – ) today!

Still reading the Carl Perkins bio. I’d like to record a Perkins tune. Just not sure if I can post it here on WS. When you press CDs it’s easy. Just pay a royalty to Harry Fox agency. Jonathan Coulton puts cover tunes on his thing a week. Curious how he handles the royalties for an internet only mp3.

Feeling a bit political. Or just making no sense at all. However you want to interpret it.
The delays on the guitar were getting longer and louder with each tune so today it’s turned off totally. Just plain old guitar playing. The drums were played on a track my GymRattz partner. Robert, and I did for fun a few days ago. I took the time to quantise them. And Robert cut them up to his own taste. So I was dreaming of using them in their raw format. Inspiration comes from strange egoed out places dunnit? The files are being uploaded even now. The songs are in the ‘listening station”.
War And Peace
I like to work so we can rest
I scrimp and save so we can spend
I have to fight to keep things calm
I’ll start a war cause I love peace
I’ll say a lot of things today
I only want to do what’s right
Our only enemy is time
Cause I don’t wanna talk or think things through
Cause you might change my mind
The world is on fire but I’m OK
It all burned down but I got away
There’s nothing left but we came out on top today
I’m looking for someplace to go
Maybe see some faces we know
I’ll make the rules and they’ll go along
I’ll keep ‘em around if they can stay in line
Or toss ‘em if they say I’m wrong
The world is on fire but I’m OK
It all burned down but I got away
There’s nothing left but we came out on top today
I’m waiting for justice
To see things my way my way my way
The goal of war is peace
The goal of war is peace
The goal of war is peace
The goal of war is peace
The world is on fire but I’m OK
It all burned down but I got away
The world is on fire but I’m OK
It’s all burned down but I got away
There’s nothing left but we came out on top
There’s nothing left but we came out on top today
The goal of war is peace
The goal of war is peace
The goal of war is peace
The goal of war is peace

This is a shout out to Samick guitars. It feels very good to be endorsed by them because I truly love my Royale. All the tunes so far and foreseeable future feature the Royale guitar and bass as the sole stringed noisemakers. If this feels like an ad my writing must be off ’cause it’s a heartful appreciation.

Halloween is all taken care of. I’ve bought a killer black studded polyester Elvis suit with a cape. My Elvis and Carl Perkins fascination has taken an active turn. The studs are guitar unfriendly, tho. There’s got to be a way to protect the guitar’s back from being scratched to pieces. A hunka hunka ; – )

After spending the whole weekend bumbling through html the song pages are working. Listen. Buy mp3s. Download a drum track for your next song. It’s inside the “listening station”.
This didn’t seem like such a time consuming project at the onset. ; – ) But today there’s still a little time to work on the next song. The chorus is starting to percolate. It’s off to the studio right after I dye my hair.

Moved the site from blogger. Hoping to be offering downloads – that’s the reason for the change. Following in the footsteps of Jonathan Coulton. He’s surely inspired more than just me to post weekly songs. Love to hear about others.
Already have next week’s drum track. No idea about the music or song to go on top of it. Totally fun to wing it.Want to be bright and cheery like Cheap Trick, but the track is moody like Joy Division.
