Ha! I’ve made my avator for Second Life after reading about musicians playing gigs in the virtual space. It took some time to figure my way around. No way to run in and make a fast buck. Flying, designing my hair, it all took some poking around. Because of a glitch I didn’t realize I was walking around in my underwear. I’m classy like that.
It’s the birth of Elvis Duffy. That’s my avatar name. People are setting up myspace pages for their avatars. I’ll probably do it too. But, man, how much web presence is needed? I was hoping to manage another webpage. That’s a joke.
First thing I’ll do is learn to take a picture of Elvis Duffy in his world. I tried to make him look a bit like me. He looks pretty young, tho. There was nothing I could figure out about making him look my age. I did have control over how fat he is. Somehow I chose to make him a little slimmer than the real me. Stay tuned for an appearance by Elvis…Duffy

I’ve been enjoying going over the first songs, mixing little tidbits and remastering, It’s to prep them for a real CD. It’s been a blast cranking them out so fast. On the permanent CD I’ve been wanting to fix the little earsores. And why not?

With 11 weeks of WS behind me I’m starting to think about the end of the 1rst season. That’ll be 13 weeks. If I do this for a year as I ‘m planning, the 52 songs will divide neatly into four 13 song cd’s. That means I’m almost done with the first one. Which means, holy smokes, that I’ll need to make some art. I really am not so good at that. The thrill of completion is so great, tho, I’m willing to give it a try.
I got ideas. Lots of ‘em. Sure. Now, that means learning how to use a template from one of those CD manufacturers. Errr, well, let’s see, does that mean photoshop or illustrator? Hope that means photoshop cause I’m a dummy on illustrator.
And I thought the music took time ; – )

Has anyone noticed I stopped posting diet results? Well, it’s because I’m stuck at 228. Dieting sucks because you have to think about it and plan ahead. I get busy. I want to be slimmer. For all the reasons there are!

My buddy Robert Oriol and I have a side project called Gymrattz where we create cardio workout CD’s. It’s an entreprenuerial endeavor. So we got volume 2 delivered. Clicks and pops in a few spaces. Arghh. Even worse after investigating, it’s my own stinking fault because it was on the duplication master that I made. If I’d listened on headphones as I’m supposed to I would have caught it. I’ll tell ya. There’s never been a smooth pressing on any release I’ve been involved with. It’s a musician’s quagmire. Anyway, this one hurts cause if I’d spent an hour on headphones it would have save precious time and money.
Lesson: always preview your duplication master before sending it out to pressing.

I do love working. But doesn’t it seem as though it comes in waves. I take on smaller projects when the bigger projects. Then when the bigger projects return I’m booked with some of the little ones. That’s freelance. You gots to do it all – head chef and dishwasher. That’s why I another all nighter on Sunday nite.
So my good one yesterday was doing 3 arrangements for Ugly Betty. A real session at Captiol Records Studio B. I got meet America Ferrera. Our brief work together consisted primarily of me cueing her in the the proper starts in the song. A charming performer with positve choices.
