The Skinny
:I’ve combed through some poetry books. Those geniuses wrote some loooong. poems. But this one reads like a lyric. Just a natural. I’m trying to be pithy and clever, but in this case it’s just plain romantic and sincere. Always a blast playing the drums. I had to shake the shaker and drop it before the chorus comes in. You can hear it hit the floor on the split track. With words like Byron’s all one can do is try to not mess it up! I had an idea for a group call The Poetics. Turns out to be a group of 1.
SHE WALKS IN BEAUTY
She Walks In Beauty, like the nightOf cloudless climes and starry skies; And all that ’s best of dark and brightMeet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellow’d to that tender light 5
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impair’d the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her face; 10
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.
And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow, 15
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!
